One of the most difficult experiences I’ve ever had in my adult life came this weekend.  I have been dating a wonderful man who just so happens to be of a different race than I am.  I’ve had a rocky road with relationships, and this one is wonderful.  I took him home to meet my family, and we were met with the cold shoulder.  My family simply doesn’t understand how I could be involved in interracial dating.  They claim they aren’t racist, but I don’t believe it for a second now.  I am having a hard time with this, because I am in a wonderful relationship that I’m not about to give up.  Their comments and opinions are going to have to not matter to me.
