Arctic Monkeys Set To Steal The Show At Indie Music Awards Ceremony

Sheffield rockers Arctic Monkeys lead this year’s Shockwave NME Awards with 7 proposals, including Best Live Band and Best Album. Arctic Monkeys are up for 7 prestigous music prizes at the year’s Shockwave NME Awards. The ‘Crying Lightning’ hitmakers are in the competition for Best English Band, Best Album design, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Video and Best Album and Worst Album for ‘Humbug’, while figurehead Alex Turner is up for 2 additional awards – Hottest Man and Hero of the Year.Fellow rockers Kasabian are the Monkeys’ biggest rivals, with six proposals including Best Album for ‘West Ryder Beggar Lunatic Asylum’. Alex, twenty-four, expounded : “It’s a great thing knowing we are still up for these awards. Kasabian have asserted that there are not any other proper rock and roll bands aside from us and them. “I don’t always agree fully but I know what they are asserting. I believe we are simply co-existing awfully nicely.”

Kasabian figurehead Tom Meighan asserted : “It’s been a massive year for us and being designated at the NME Awards is the topping on the cake.” Regardless of splitting last year, Oasis are named in 4 classes, Best Brit Band, Best Live Event, Best Video for ‘Falling Down’ and the unwished-for Worst Band slot.

Lady Gaga is up for Best Solo Artist and Hottest Girl , as well as Best Dressed and the ‘honours’ Worst Dressed and Worst Album.
