New Fibromyalgia Drug Treatment
There is possibly a new fibromyalgia treatment available soon. The manufacturers, Forest Laboratories, Inc. and Cypress Bioscience, Inc. said that their studies showed that people with fibromyalgia who took milnacipran had less pain, more physical function and a positive impression of being better overall. As of early 2009, the U.S. FDA was reviewing the drug milnacipran as a possible new fibromyalgia treatment. The administration did not make a decision earlier, saying only that it needed more time to review the medical data. Milnacipran is an antidepressant. Outside the U.S., it has been available on the market for about a decade in more than 50 countries. However, it is not approved for use in the U.S yet.
