Regarding the mandate for people to buy health insurance: to the extent government regulations require hospitals, as an example, to provide emergency treatment for everybody, people who don’t have insurance – and earned or possessed money that could have been used to pay for it – don’t suffer the consequences of their choices made for their use of their funds. President Barack Obama can provide a stimulating and hopeful speech, that is encouraging and full of promise, but the follow-on like his proclaimed economic recovery and increased jobs leave much to be desired.
