Views On “Gingrich Evolves on Role of Federal Government”

Regarding the mandate for people to buy health insurance: to the extent government regulations require hospitals, as an example, to provide emergency treatment for everybody, people who don’t have insurance – and earned or possessed money that could have been used to pay for it – don’t suffer the consequences of their choices made for their use of their funds. It’s fair that they be denied free advice service. I’m not suggesting that they be forced to buy insurance either. There is a moral hazard problem to be dealt with.

I don’t know whether charities can on their own provide adequate free service for those who truly cannot afford to buy insurance. I wish they could do it instead of taxpayers or health providers. That issue needs separate attention.

What Rachel and I talked about on the first night of class

I started taking a watercolor class at Saddleback community college a few weeks ago. I’ve always wanted to learn how to paint in this medium. So far, I’m doing pretty good. One of the other students in the class is named Rachel. On the first night of class, we had a great conversation about seo techniques for websites. I came to find out that she does this sort of work for a living. It’s good to know people who possess certain skill sets.

An Opinion On “George L. Priest: Washington’s Antitrust Timewarp”

Madison:

Even if Cy could produce evidence that is hardly reason for the merger to be blocked. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s still legal in this country to purchase a major competitor. At the end of the day, do we really even need anti-trust laws? I mean if a company gets too big and starts charging exorbitant prices that would encourage other companies too compete. By getting involved the Government just muddies what would otherwise be a natural process. I wonder how many companies make the decision not to grow because an acquisition could raise red flags with the DOJ? Anti-trust legislation is like any legislation, the law of unintended consequences creates a worse problem than the problem the legislation aimed to fix.

S E R I O U S L Y?
