My son came into me the day he got his drivers license and said he was going to buy a car.  I asked him how he was going to do this?  He said he would get a loan. Well, he proceeded the next day to look for cars on car lots and found one he liked.  He test drove it and asked to fill out an Car Loan application.  He was quite disappointed when he was turned down for lack of credit and cash. I had tried to talk to him to give him advice but at the time he wasn’t interested. He did find out there is more to it than he thought!

It’s not easy getting through college, that’s for sure. Just making the transition to living as a responsible adult is tough. You quickly become very aware of just how much hand holding you got from your parents. I mean, I was covering my own auto loans and normal expenses, but somehow, food was always in the fridge and I had a warm roof over my head without really having to think about it.
